The Rose Society UK held it’s first Annual General Meeting on Sunday 29th October.
The Rose Society UK was formed on 28th May 2017 when a steering committee was formed to organise the society’s inaugural shows and business until a Committee could be voted in at the first AGM.
At the AGM, held at; St Michael’s Church Hall, Hall Lane, Pelsall, a new committee was formally elected.
Following the official business of the AGM a light buffet lunch was provide during which the attending members had the chance to catch up and share stories of their rose growing during 2017.
Michael Marriott of David Austin Roses then gave a presentation about The Scent of a Rose during which he shared some late-season fragrant blooms cut from his garden.
The AGM provided an opportunity for Rose Society UK members to meet up, enjoy some rosy conversation and get the new society off to a flying start.
At the AGM, a new shows committee was formed to set the schedule of classes for next season’s shows. It is hoped that the society’s new show schedules will be available early in the new year.
It was agreed that the 2018 schedule would also include details and show classes for other major rose shows in the UK. The Rose Society of Wales and BIRS have both agreed to their inclusion in The Rose Society UK schedule so that it will be a ‘One-stop-shop’ for all UK rose exhibitors.
