At the Northern Ireland International Rose Trials in Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park, Belfast, Colin Dickson was presented with the Dean Hole Medal by Rose Society Secretary, Ray Martin.

The Dean Hole Medal, the highest award in the World of Roses, is awarded in memory of the founder and first President of the National Rose Society; Samuel Reynolds-Hole.

Colin is the sixth generation of the Dickson family to grow and breed roses and has himself produced many fine. prize-winning varieties such as Elina, George Best, Light Fantastic, Marry Me, Racy Lady, Secret Smile,Wild Rover and many more.

Colin retired from roses and rose breeding in 2024. Both of his daughters finding careers away from roses meaning that there would be no seventh generation to take the business forward. Colin left his many admirers with two final introductions; Honey Be Mine and A Fond Farewell. We all wish you a long and happy retirement Colin.
