These Direct Debit Mandate Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Direct Debit payment method to pay for your membership subscription or other recurring payments to The Rose Society UK.

1. Introduction

By completing and submitting a Direct Debit Instruction to The Rose Society UK (“you”, “your”), you authorise us to collect payments from your nominated bank or building society account in accordance with the details provided on your Direct Debit Instruction. Direct Debit payments will be processed via the UK Direct Debit Scheme and are subject to the terms below and the Direct Debit Guarantee (Section 8).

UK Direct Debit can only be set up on bank or building society accounts held in the UK.

2. Authority to Collect Payment

When you provide a Direct Debit Instruction, you authorise The Society to collect membership fees and other recurring payments from your nominated account as detailed on your Direct Debit Instruction. You also authorise your bank or building society to debit your account in accordance with the instruction.

The amounts, dates and frequency of payments will be in accordance with your chosen membership payment plan or renewal schedule as set out at the time of sign-up.

3. Payment Frequency and Amount

Direct Debit may be used to collect payment either:

  • Annually: A single payment for the membership year;

  • Other frequencies: If offered by The Society (e.g., monthly instalments), the specific payment amounts and schedule applicable to your membership will be communicated when you set up the Direct Debit.

The first payment will be collected on the date specified on your mandate or as otherwise agreed in writing. The Society will send advance notice of any changes to amounts, dates or frequency at least 10 working days before collection (or such shorter notice as agreed).

4. Commencement and Duration

Your Direct Debit Instruction takes effect from the date on which your bank or building society confirms acceptance of the mandate. Your membership and payment obligations will continue in accordance with your membership year or until cancellation in accordance with these Terms.

5. Insufficient Funds and Payment Failure

It is your responsibility to ensure that sufficient funds are available in your account when payment is due. If a payment is not collected due to insufficient funds, we may attempt to collect the amount again or contact you to arrange an alternative payment method. Continued failure to pay may result in suspension or cancellation of your membership benefits.

6. Cancelling or Changing the Direct Debit Mandate

You may cancel your Direct Debit at any time by contacting your bank or building society. Cancellation of a Direct Debit mandate with your bank does not automatically cancel your membership; you must also notify The Rose Society UK in writing if you wish to cancel your membership or change your payment method. The Society may require written confirmation of any mandate cancellation or amendment.

If you change bank account details, you must complete a new Direct Debit Instruction with your updated bank details.

7. Data and Security

We will process your bank account details and personal information to set up your Direct Debit and to manage payment collections. Your information will be stored securely and used in accordance with our privacy policy which complies with applicable data protection laws.

8. Direct Debit Guarantee

All Direct Debit payments are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee. Under the Guarantee:

  • You are entitled to a full and immediate refund from your bank or building society if an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit;

  • You will be notified in advance of any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit collection;

  • You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required.

The Direct Debit Guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits.

9. Variation of Terms

The Rose Society UK reserves the right to amend these Direct Debit Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be notified to you in writing or by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect.

10. Governing Law

These Direct Debit Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
